more detail on the scribbling shawl

It took a while, but I fnally got around to finishing the black scribbling shawl. I think I would have preferred one a bit wider,and I would definately recommend using a super thick double point instead of a circluar and using mohair for both the thick and thin yarn. the mohair makes a huge difference when it comes to the warmth.

Knitty Gritty comes to HGTV!

I don't know about you ladies, but watching videos or learning knitting techniques from a real live person is the easiest way for me to learn. When we moved last spring, one of the sadder moments was the realization that I would not be able to DVR Knitty Gritty on the DIY network anymore. Well, Santa came early this week to our house. As I was flipping through the channel guide the other day, I spotted that Knitty Gritty was airing on HGTV, a sister network to DIY. Great cheers of joy erupted in the house and my Dear Fiance (DF) wondered what was going on. He did not quite share in my Knitty Gritty excitement, but wait until he gets the blanket that they aired the other day. Ok, back to Christmas knitting...three washcloths and 48 hours to go.

A baby sweater on a actual live person

Here's S wearing the cotton version of the moorehouse farm baby sweater, and the machine washable and line dry cotton is definitely a better choice for kids than the 100% wool that needs to be hand washed.

will definitely make some more color combos after this experience. Will have to try out boy's colors, not sure if the style will work for boys though.

Baby Blanket is Complete!

I completed my first baby blanket as pictured. It was a great learning exercise, as I have figured out that I bind off too tightly. So, now I know to use one needle size up in order to finish the blanket. I also learned more about weaving in the ends, and so I am less daunted by multiple skein projects. I also wonder if this is one of those items that needs to be blocked. Good questions to ask, but not so many answers I guess.

Thought I'd share what I was doing when I was actually procrastinating these last few months. So I'm a bit addicted to the Mason Dixon washclothes. And yes, I do still have all the tails to weave in. My least favorite part, any volunteers? And I clearly have more than enough washclothes to last a while. And does anyone know anyone having a little girl, since everyone I know is having boys...and I don't think their dads would appreciate them in a little pink sweater.

And I owe the baggage handlers, at whatever airport it was on the way to NYC that I blamed on confiscating my checked cable needle last summer, an apology. It fell out a nook of my suitcase when I was cleaning it out from Thanksgiving.
